The presence of people of African descent in Hamilton predates its incorporation in 1846, yet the experiences, contributions, struggles, and imaginations often go unnoticed. As residents of Hamilton prepare to celebrate Black History Month, this 4 week virtual interactive public lecture will offer you an opportunity to delve into the specific experiences, contributions, struggles, and imaginations of Hamilton Black history, present, and future.
Week 1: February 5th, 2026 from 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm "Black presence and essence from 1800 to 1900."
Week 2: February 12th, 2026 from 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm "Fighting for justice from 1900 - 1950."
